Dried basil takes on slightly different flavor properties and has a more concentrated flavor than fresh, but is still a great alternative when fresh basil is not available. You can substitute one teaspoon of dried basil for one tablespoon of fresh.

 It is a great addition to tomato and pizza sauces. It can be used to garnish salads such as a caprese or you can add it to marinades, baked breads or even desserts such as ice cream and sweet sauces. The possibilities go on and on for this versatile herb.
