Vieux Carré

This drink is named for the old quarter in New Orleans. It’s similar to a classic Old Fashioned with a bit more complexity and deep, subtle sweetness. Enjoy.

Vieux Carré

¾ oz. Rye Whiskey (Rittenhouse)

¾ oz. Cognac (Ussé)

¾ oz. Sweet Vermouth (Nouilly Pratt)

¼ oz. Bénédictine liqueur

1 - 2 dashes Peychaud’s Bitter’s

1 - 2 dashes Angostura bitters

Ice cubes

Lemon twist for garnish

 

In a glass, combine whiskey, cognac, sweet vermouth, benedictine, and both bitters.

Add ice and stir for 20 seconds until chilled.

Fill a lowball glass with ice.

Add stirred cocktail and garnish with lemon twist.
