Cream Cheese Frosting

This is the most delicious and easy to make frosting you will ever eat. It can be colored and flavored to your liking. Perfect with chocolate, vanilla, lemon, lime, even Garam Masala cupcakes, this is a great recipe to have in your pocket.

You can alter the proportions of cream cheese, butter, and powdered sugar to you liking and preferred consistency, but we prefer extra sugar to help this frosting keep its shape. Make sure that the cream cheese and butter are at room temperature and that you sift the powdered sugar to ensure a smooth frosting without any lumps or surprises. 

Ingredients

1 pound cream cheese, at room temperature

3/4 pound (3 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1 1/2 pounds confectioners’ sugar, sifted

Directions

  1. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, combine the cream cheese, butter, and vanilla at low speed until smooth.

  2. Slowly, add the confectioners’ sugar and mix until smooth.

Makes 4 cups
